Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms
Basis Budget is developed and operated by JK Creative Studios LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing, or using Basis Budget (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. The App is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
3. Description of Service
Basis Budget is an iOS personal finance application for budgeting, account tracking, and net worth monitoring. The App is a paid subscription with a 1-month free trial. Features include manual transaction entry, automatic bank syncing via Plaid, Apple Wallet account integration, and two budgeting modes (Zero-Based and Spending Limits).
4. Subscriptions and Billing
Basis Budget requires a paid subscription, billed monthly through Apple's App Store. A free trial period is included with your first subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at the end of the trial period. Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Prices are subject to change. Any price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle after notice is provided.
5. Account and Authentication
Basis Budget requires sign-in with either your Apple ID or your email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and device.
6. User Data
Your financial data (transactions, balances, budgets, categories) is stored on your device and encrypted on-device before being synced to our Supabase backend for cross-device access. Bank connection tokens and your per-account encryption key are also stored securely on our servers. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Third-Party Services
Bank account syncing uses Plaid, a third-party financial data service. By connecting your bank accounts, you agree to Plaid's terms of service and privacy policy. We are not responsible for Plaid's availability, data handling, or any issues arising from their service. The App also uses Supabase for authentication and Vercel for API hosting. You agree to comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the App.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including all software, design, text, graphics, logos, and other content, is the exclusive property of JK Creative Studios LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. No ownership rights are transferred to you under these Terms.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for personal financial tracking purposes. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or use it for any illegal purpose.
10. Disclaimers
The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Basis Budget is not a financial advisor and does not provide financial advice. We are not responsible for any financial decisions made using the App. The accuracy of financial data depends on your input and third-party services including Plaid and your financial institutions.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Basis Budget shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to data loss, inaccurate financial data, service interruptions, or issues arising from third-party services. In no event shall our total liability to you for all damages (other than as may be required by applicable law in cases involving personal injury) exceed fifty dollars ($50.00).
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless JK Creative Studios LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with (i) your use or misuse of the App; (ii) your violation of these Terms; or (iii) your violation of any rights of another party, including any third-party service.
13. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. If you cancel your subscription, paid features will stop at the end of your current billing period. You can delete all your data at any time from within the App.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
15. Apple App Store Additional Terms
The following terms apply if you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store. You and JK Creative Studios LLC acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and JK Creative Studios LLC only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). JK Creative Studios LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content. These Terms may not provide for usage rules that are in conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Scope of License
The license granted to you for the App is a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control and as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the App Store Terms of Service, except that the App may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
Maintenance and Support
We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services with respect to the App. You and we acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App.
Warranty
We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App.
Product Claims
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your possession and/or use of the App, including, but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
Intellectual Property Rights
In the event of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of the App infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, JK Creative Studios LLC, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
Third-Party Beneficiary
You and we acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
16. Legal Compliance
You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
17. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York, excluding its conflicts of law provisions. You and JK Creative Studios LLC agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York, New York, to resolve any dispute or claim arising from these Terms, except where prohibited by applicable law.
18. General Provisions
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision.
Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and JK Creative Studios LLC regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms at any time without notice to you.
