One place for your categories
Categories are managed from the budget screen now, and deleting one asks where its transactions should go instead of just dropping them.
Deleting a category
- Deleting a category asks where its transactions should go, and moves them there. Before, they were dumped into uncategorized on iOS, and on the web they did not even show up there, so the money went missing from your budget entirely.
- Payee rules and split transactions move with them. Assigned amounts stay with the deleted category rather than transferring, so months you have already reconciled are left alone.
- The confirmation tells you what it is about to affect first: how many transactions, how many payee rules, and how many months of budget history.
One place to manage categories
- Tap a category on the budget screen, then its name at the top of the sheet, to rename it, change its icon or color, move it to another group, or delete it.
- New categories come from the + button on the budget screen and pick their group as you create them, instead of always starting ungrouped.
- The separate Manage Categories screen is gone. Restore Default Categories and Reset Budget moved to Settings under Manage, and Include savings in budget moved to Settings under Budget Mode.
Ordering
- Every category picker, filter and list is sorted A to Z, with Income, Transfer and Credit Card Payment first. They were previously ordered by a value that restarts inside each group, which read as random once you had reordered anything.
- The budget screen still shows the order you set by dragging in Organize. That is the one place the order is yours.
Polish
- Restore Default Categories no longer strands split transactions on a category it just removed.
- Installing the web app now opens your budget. It used to open the marketing page with a Sign Up button on it.
